About Jim Jahnz
Jim was born on January 22, 1973 in Providence,
RI. He was the first child of James R. Jahnz, Sr. and
Paula (Holmes) Jahnz. Jim and his younger brother, Dan,
grew up in the towns of Smithfield and North Providence.
Upon graduating from North Providence High School he
attended Providence College and later Rhode Island College.
Jim graduated from Rhode Island College in January of
1997 with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political
Science and Public Administration.
After graduating, Jim spent several years working in the
banking and financial service fields, where he was nominated
for company wide awards based on his client-centered service
approach. In 2004, Jim began working for the Diocese of Providence
in the Office of Social Ministry as an assistant program
coordinator, eventually becoming a program coordinator at
Project Hope, a social service agency for the diocese. In 2007, Jim was named Agency Coordinator of Project Hope/Proyecto Esperanza.
Jim is a past member of the Lincoln Land
Trust, and has formerly served on the town’s
Conservation Commission. He is a member of
the Lincoln Town Democratic Committee and
a member of the Harry S Truman Library and
Museum. In addition, he is a member of the
Lincoln Council (4005) Knights of Columbus,
Save the Bay, and Friends of Hearthside House.
He is a communicant of St. Ambrose Church
in Albion, where he is a member of the parish’s
Finance Council and has served as its Catholic
Charity Fund Appeal Chairman for the past
ten years. Jim also has spent several years
teaching in the parish’s religious education
program.
Jim also coaches youth basketball at the Cumberland/Lincoln
Boys and Girls Club, manages in The Lincoln
Little League and coaches in Lincoln Youth
Soccer.
Jim married the former Kristen Lapierre in 1998. Kristen,
a math teacher at Cumberland High School, is a life-long
Lincoln resident and a graduate of the Lincoln public school
system. Kristen is the daughter of longtime Lincoln residents
Rene and Kathy Lapierre.
Jim and Kristen are the parents of two young children: Joshua
and Kate. They have made their home at 5 Samuel Stephens
Drive since 1998.
